SAYFOK & Association Bahri: Safi Unites for an Impressive Coastal Cleanup

Under the dynamic SAYFOK program, an eco-village initiative that promotes environmental education and sustainable leisure, a large-scale cleanup was organized on the beach of Safi.

This campaign was led by Association Bahri, recognized for its impactful environmental projects across Morocco.

The event took place under the supervision of the Governor of the Province of Safi and the Pasha, demonstrating the commitment of local authorities to environmental preservation.

The operation was held with the participation of numerous civil society associations, including the Safi Surf Club, Association QALAM for people with disabilities, Irham, and Alhadef, alongside residents of Safi and dedicated volunteers.

In just one hour, participants succeeded in collecting an impressive 555 kg of waste, highlighting the collective power of community action.

It is important to note that the SAYFOK program is sponsored by Ciments du Maroc, a steadfast partner that has supported Safi Municipal Beach since 2001, especially under the Blue Flag program, encouraging cleaner, safer beaches.

This initiative is also aligned with the efforts of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, led by HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, particularly through the national campaign #B7arBlaPlastic, which aims to significantly reduce plastic waste on Moroccan coasts.

As part of the celebration, the most engaged volunteers were rewarded with free surf lessons offered by Safi Surf Camp, promoting eco-tourism and reinforcing a positive link between environmental action and local culture.

This event contributes to the “Clean Beaches” (Plages Propres) program, reaffirming Safi’s position as a model for sustainable coastal management since obtaining the Blue Flag in 2009.

Through such campaigns, SAYFOK and Association Bahri demonstrate that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility, requiring cooperation between public institutions, private sponsors, NGOs, and local communities.

This operation leaves a powerful message: together, we can protect our beaches, empower our youth, and ensure a healthier coastline for future generations.
